Its been a little bit over a year since I started Stroller Strides, so I thought I would update my testimonial. I'm not updating because my instructor asked me to but because I am so very proud of what I have accomplished with Stroller Strides that I want to share it with other moms that are hoping to find motivation to be fit and strong after having a baby.
After relocating from Florida, I was hoping to find friends for myself and my then 3-year old son. It was fate when I met Alison at the Stroller Strides booth during the Women's Expo, especially since I found out she had a son the same age as mine. I had to build up the courage to take that first step to show up to my first free class. And obviously I loved it and the moms that I met. Since then, I became pregnant yet kept active with Stroller Strides up until I gave birth at 39 weeks. I remembered how long it took me to get my baby weight off with my first child (about 9 months) and I was definitely not wanting to struggle again. I gained about 30 lbs with my recent pregnancy, which was 10 lbs less than my first. After my 6 week postpartum doctor appointment, I was back at it. I worked hard and attended class 3 days a week as well as trained for my first 5k. I also began watching my calorie intake. When I started this program, I never would have believed that I would have a 16-week old baby and be the fittest and healthiest since I was in high school. My muscles are beginning to tone and I am finally seeing definition in my arms (Thank you red resistance bands!). After 13 months with Stroller Strides (and being pregnant for 9 months of it), I am very proud that I was still able to achieve the following results:
Weight: -10 lbs
Chest: -1" (still nursing)
Biceps: -1 1/2" to 2"
Neck: -1 1/4"
Stroller Strides is so motivating. I love that there is variety and you can work out at your own pace and never be judged. I have done gyms, personal trainers and exercise classes before but I've NEVER found anything that I stuck with and that worked within our budget. Stroller Strides is definitely something I would recommend any mom who is looking for 1) weekly full body work-outs, 2) building friendships, 3) socialization for yourself/child, 4) getting and staying motivated. Thank you Alison for introducing me to the fit/healthy person I have been trying to find and for keeping me motivated this whole year! I am looking forward to continuing this journey with Fit4Mom and hoping to reach and maintain my personal goals.
