When my best friend told me she was buying a Stroller Strides franchise, I thought it sounded like a pretty cool idea. Workout with your baby? Sweet. However, when I was picturing working out with my baby, I was picturing it as a mom and baby experience. Go, workout, keep baby occupied for an hour, and go home.
Little did I know, 2 years later, that this experience would be much more like group therapy for me. Much more like hanging out with best friends. Much more like imperative adult time. And finally, much more like just what I need to emotionally and mentally help me through my health problems.
Yes, Stroller Strides is an awesome workout. But it is so much more than that. I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2 year old, a husband away on business for months, and a chronic health problem. For me, Stroller Strides gives me the opportunity to have fun while my son gets some interaction with kids his own age. I love that I can go there and workout my hardest, so I wake up sore the next day. Or, on off days, I can go and take it easy with the...more
I first heard about Stroller Strides through a podcast when we were stationed in California, I never had time to actually find out more information or take any classes I just thought it sounded pretty cool. When we got stationed in Alaska, my husband and I considered actually purchasing a franchise and starting one out there. The timing was off I then became pregnant with my second child and the idea fell through the cracks. When I knew that we are transferring to Virginia, I knew that I wanted to find a Stroller Strides. The nearest franchise to us was Fredericksburg and its been the best decision I could have ever made for myself, my toddlers and family. Alison and Teresa are amazing they know how to make you dig deeper and push your self harder. You get exactly what you you want out of each class. If you give it your all you'll leave hurting so good ;) if you need to take it down a notch for a session no one is there to judge you. I've truly made some amazing friendships, I'm more fit than I've ever been in the 7 years, lost all my pregnancy weight, now working on the marriage...more
Its been a little bit over a year since I started Stroller Strides, so I thought I would update my testimonial. I'm not updating because my instructor asked me to but because I am so very proud of what I have accomplished with Stroller Strides that I want to share it with other moms that are hoping to find motivation to be fit and strong after having a baby.
After relocating from Florida, I was hoping to find friends for myself and my then 3-year old son. It was fate when I met Alison at the Stroller Strides booth during the Women's Expo, especially since I found out she had a son the same age as mine. I had to build up the courage to take that first step to show up to my first free class. And obviously I loved it and the moms that I met. Since then, I became pregnant yet kept active with Stroller Strides up until I gave birth at 39 weeks. I remembered how long it took me to get my baby weight off with my first child (about 9 months) and I was definitely not wanting to struggle again. I gained about 30 lbs with my recent pregnancy, which was 10 lbs less than my...more
I heard about Stroller Strides through a friend. She was joining and I said that I'd join too. She was able to go to her first class before I was. I remember her telling me how sore she was. To be honest she was naturally skinny and I thought she was sore because she didn't really workout. A few days later I found out when I went to my first class. I hadn't been prepared for the full body workout to come and I was sore the next day too. I'm no stranger to exercise. I did karate for a number of years and I run. But Stroller Strides has helped me get the fittest I have been my whole life.
Alison and the teachers are wonderful. They keep you motivated and always have great workouts planned. I hate gyms and working out at home never goes smoothly without getting distracted (especially with a child). Stroller Strides is great. Even though I'm working out I feel more like I'm spending time with friends. When I started going my daughter was with me for every class. Now she's in school, missing most of the classes and she gets so excited to go to an evening or Saturday class....more
